Please enjoy the stories.
We live in strange times. Every day, we are exposed to highlight reels from the daily lives of everyone we know, don’t know, and will never know. We watch their moods change from one status update to the next. We see the inner workings of their brains in each tweet and their meals, outfits and travels on Instagram.
Social networking has revealed the worlds inside the world as we’ve never seen them before. It’s incredible…and it’s overwhelming. Looking at the best-of moments from others’ lives can make our own feel insufficient. It can be alienating, and we end up feeling discontented and disconnected in this era of mass connection.
In order to reconnect with people as they are, I wanted to pull back the curtain on their meticulously curated lives and photograph them in their most intimate environment, their own homes.
Each individual is the subject of a five-portrait series that begins with them in their rawest form the moment they wake up. From there, I document their morning routine in an attempt to capture who they are as they become the person they present online.
Each week for 52 weeks, I featured a new person, a new story, a different life.
